Is your home a safe place for you and your loved ones to live in? The safety of your family is of utmost importance to you. Take all precautions to make the premises as secure as possible. Do not let it be a temptation for intruders. With the latest advancements in technology, taking preventive measures to make your home secure is an affordable and simple undertaking.
The Technology
Passive sensors using Infra-Red technology are used in most of the Wireless Home Security systems these days. These sensors can scan an area of up to 15 Sq meters. All objects usually transmit energy in the infrared frequency. These sensors constantly monitor the level of infrared energy emitted in the scanned area. When an intruder comes within this area, the energy level abruptly changes and the sensors immediately respond by triggering an alarm. These sensors can be safely installed in rooms where valuable possessions are housed.
If you have pets at home, you can install pet-tolerant sensors, which come at a slightly higher price from most manufacturers in Australia. These sensors can ignore any pet up to 0.75 meters in height and up to 38 Kg in weight. Working in conjunction with smoke detectors, video cameras and glass-break sensors, infrared sensors are a highly secure solution to protect your home.
The sensors and various other components of the security system can either be wired or be completely wireless. Wireless solutions offer more flexibility and can be installed and removed even in rental properties. Nevertheless, these systems are more sophisticated and need trained personnel to handle the installation.
The Nerve Centre
The control panel is the nerve centre of the security system. It houses the microprocessor, the power supply and the backup batteries. You can arm and disarm the system using a keypad. The unit basically operates in three modes. The “away armed” mode is when the system monitors the premises when you are away; the “at home armed” mode is when it functions while you are at home; and the “disarmed” mode when you deactivate the alarm. You can normally arm the system using a single button in the keypad, but to disarm it, you might have to enter a 4-digit code.
The Alarm
The system immediately triggers the internal & external sirens in the premises. Next, it usually calls a monitoring station and then informs you directly through a pre-specified telephone, pager or mobile number. These three levels of protection are often adequate to respond to any intrusion into the premises.
With so many innovative and inexpensive solutions to protect the things and people you love, it is imperative that you implement these valuable solutions and provide a safe and peaceful environment for your family.
